Picking up on those tiny errors.

Proofreading is a final check, ensuring that earlier corrections have been made while undertaking another review for sense and accuracy.

Proofreading can be undertaken ‘blind’ – without an earlier version of the manuscript – or while comparing a new set to the old. In the latter case, JK editorial will differentiate between the types of changes found; for example, previously marked corrections that have been missed by the typesetter, and any new corrections. Traditionally, amendments are kept to a minimum in proofreading.

If a document hasn’t previously been edited but time is short, JK editorial recommends a general edit rather than a proofread only.
