How much will it cost?
The amount the work will cost will depend on the service you require and the complexity of the work. That said, the cost of an editor is likely to be a small part of the overall project and is more than just an ‘added extra’.

How do I know what the work needs?
Many people are unsure of the level of editorial input their project requires. This question can usually be resolved in discussion with your editor; if your schedule allows, JK editorial will undertake a free assessment of the material and make a recommendation.

How can I achieve consistency?
One of the key tasks an editor will bring to your manuscript is consistency. To help you achieve consistency from the outset, it is advisable to establish a style sheet. This can cover preferred spelling of words with a number of options (eg, e-mail, email, E-mail), whether -ise or -ize spellings should be used, spelling of place and country names. If you haven’t already established a style sheet, JK editorial will write one for you, or can help you set one up before you begin writing.

How do I know the deadlines are going to be met?
Client satisfaction is JK editorial’s top priority, and deadlines form a major part of achieving that satisfaction! JK editorial’s best marketing comes from ‘word of mouth’, and we can’t afford to let people down. Each of our clients receives a priority one service, so you can be sure that your project will always be delivered within the agreed timescale.

How do I send my work to you?
You can send work to JK editorial in a number of ways. Hard (paper) copy is best sent by post. Electronic copy can be sent by email, if the document is not too big, or placed on a CD-rom or floppy disk and posted. It’s best to discuss the most appropriate format first.

How secure are you?
JK editorial runs Microsoft XP on an un-networked, password-protected PC, running Norton Antivirus 2002 for which updates are downloaded on a weekly basis. It does not ‘share’ work, and takes the confidentiality of its clients’ projects very seriously.
