Getting it right, first time.

Copy-editing is essentially the process of correcting a text with regard to spelling, grammar and punctuation. It requires a complete review of the material and editing is undertaken as required (some manuscripts will require a heavy edit, some may only be light – and sometimes the timetable will dictate). The text will be amended if it is unclear or incorrect, and inconsistencies will be addressed.

At the end of the copy-editing process, you can expect JK editorial to deliver:
marked-up text, ready for the typesetter to start work
a list of queries for the author
issues for you to check – such as copyright or other legal queries
checklist of illustrations and tables
consistency of style
guidance for the designer on requirements
a list of chapter titles and running heads for easy reference
a sheet of preferred spellings and styles (following house style if available)
