Getting it right, first time.
Copy-editing is essentially the process of correcting a text with
regard to spelling, grammar and punctuation. It requires a complete
review of the material and editing is undertaken as required (some
manuscripts will require a heavy edit, some may only be light
and sometimes the timetable will dictate). The text will be amended
if it is unclear or incorrect, and inconsistencies will be addressed.
At the end of the copy-editing process, you
can expect JK editorial to deliver:
 |
marked-up text, ready for the typesetter to
start work |
 |
a list of queries for the author |
 |
issues for you to check such as copyright
or other legal queries |
 |
checklist of illustrations and tables |
 |
consistency of style |
 |
guidance for the designer on requirements |
 |
a list of chapter titles and running heads
for easy reference |
 |
a sheet of preferred spellings and styles
(following house style if available) |
